I filmed with a Canon XA40 camcorder in 1080, do I need to change the sequence presets from DSLR to Canon XF?

No. The built-in presets are simply a tool ... if you drop a clip on a blank timeline panel, then Premiere will start at the top of the list, look for a match to the clip for framesize, framerate, audio channels ... and just use that.

So it matches the clip, forget the name, as that doesn't mean anything.

You can also make your own presets easily enough.
