Sequence won't play after I access by web browser.

This just started happening within the last week.  I'm editing on a Macbook Pro, Sonoma 14.2.1. When I'm editing I typically have my edge browser open with google docs so I can make notes as I go.  I've been doing this without issue for the last 4 months.  Now if I have Premiere open and go to write something in my google docs, when I come back to the sequence it won't play.  I can still edit on the sequence, so it's not frozen.  The video clips in my bin that are in the sequence are grayed out--the thumbnails aren't loading.  The thumbnails are there for other clips, but if I double click on them to play in the soure monitor, it won't pull up.  I'm working with Premiere 24.1.0 build 85.  If I close down the project, it gets hung up while trying to save.  The only thing that works is completely shutting down Premiere and starting again.
