Good afternoon. This is not the first time I have encountered this problem: Some effects do not want to work with still images.
Example. I want to apply a track mask key to the first still image. And I want to use the second still image for the mask parameter. Yes, I want to use a mask from a still image for another still image.
But it either doesn't work fundamentally, or it malfunctions.
Is there any way to defeat this, or is it not possible with still images?

The Track Matte Key effect should work just fine with still images, allowing you to mask one image with another.
Here's a few things to check:
1. Apply the Track Matte Key effect to the clip you want to mask.
2. If your matte clip has an alpha channel, select "Composite Using Matte Alpha." If not, select "Composite Using Matte Luma."
3. Make sure Track Output (the eye icon in the track header) is enabled for your matte track.
For more details, you can refer to Adobe's guide on using the Track Matte Key effect.
If you find other effects not working with still images, please let us know which ones they are.
Cheers,
Paul
