Any help appreciated.

Any other camera is fine, but the Sony A1 8K only displays audio.

Appreciate any advice to make it work so I can can complete a small production.

I am not surprised.

CS6 is almost 10 years old.

8K was not 'invented' yet, as was the codec used by the dslr.

Advice: update your software.

So it's not possible?

I cannot update the software, I have to buy new software and can't afford that since Covid obliterated any chance of income.

Shutter encoder wouldn't work, Iay have done something wrong.

I gave up and after some advice installed and learnt Resolve 17, which I expect will replace Premiere Pro in a few months as I familiarise myself with it.

It was $300 and so far I think it is great value given that it includes a version of After Effects and Audition also and should be good for me for many years.

Hope that helps many with the issues I had.

Robert,

Yes, you can't expect 10 year old software to keep pace with modern workflows. Sorry.

One clarification, though, there is not a version of After Effects or Audition that comes with Resolve. I think you what you mean is that there are other built in pieces of that application which offer similar functions: compositing and video mixing.

You'll find that using those applications are quite a bit different than After Effects and Audition, to be fair, so you may want to be aware of that at the outset. Good luck.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, Fusion isn't exactly after effects and the audio solution isn't the same as audition either, but I've been using the software for only a few days and I'm already familiar with it.

It boiled down to us having to make a commitment to ongoing subscription costs with Adobe or a one time only fee with Blackmagic and since we have been locked out of being able to do on site work for most of the last 18 months, so income has been reduced to about 10-15% of what it had been for years prior, we decided to reduce the fixed ongoing costs by using the Blackmagic product.

We wish Adobe offered a similar solution, it would save a week or two of learning a new software.

We luckily have the time to do that me though.

Thanks for the advice anyway 👍
