Hello!
I've just downloaded Adobe Premiere Pro v22 Beta version so I can test a bit of the speech to text function.
However, I need to use it in portuguese and, for some reason, all languages besides english seem to not be included. They all have a little cloud by their side, which seems to indicate some kind of download needed, I guess? How do I enable portuguese and other languages? English is the only one that works.
Anyway, I would really appreciate any help.
Best,
Rodri.

I don't know about the Beta, but in the standard version V22, language options are enabled:
You can install V22 while keeping your current version for testing purposes

Thank you for your feedback!
To use a language that has not been downloaded yet, you just need to trigger a transcription using that option. One step of the process will then be to automatically download all required files (with progress).
Best regards,
Alexander

Hey Alexander,
Thanks for the answer.
So, I've triggered a transcription in portuguese but things don't seem to flow.
The screen says "Creating automatic transcription" and then below it says "Initializing local transcription mechanism".
It stays on this stage for a very long time, much longer than how long tutorials inform it should take.
I'm attaching a picture so you can see for yourself.
Thanks once again.

Hi Rodri,
Did you find the solution ? I have the same problem with CC2022.2.0
When I select French Langage, the screen says "Local transcription engine initialization" but it looks like PP failed to install it.

Hello I have exactly the same problem of defaulte6upn4t0nzww and rodri ribeiro:
- Premiere stays idle on "initialing local transcription engine" when i choose Italian (it has a cloud image near to it)
- When I choose English (no cloud near it) it works.
I'm on the latest version up-to-date ( 22.2.0 build 128)
I think that it' a critical bug that you should fix.
Thank you
Alberto

Hi Alberto,
thank you for reporting this issue.
When a language pack is not available on your system - the first transcription will trigger the download of the >500MB language pack. Depending on your internet connection this might take a while to complete the installation.
You can also manually trigger the installation via the Creative Cloud Desktop App:
- In the "All Apps" View - click on the "..." icon next to Premiere Pro
- Choose "Addons"
- This will show the list of already installed language packs
- click the "add" button next to the language pack / this will trigger the download process and show you the progress made so far
Hope this helps to unblock your workflow!
Best regards,
Alexander

It works downloading the language from CC Desktop App. Thanks! 🙂
I think you should just fix the automatic download feature

That explains a lot, thanks for the workaround! I was having the same problem described. I have a poor internet connection, so "initializing local transcription engine" seemed to load endlessly and it was unclear why. I'll have so much peace of mind being able to see a progress bar!
