Version of the app: 23.5
Platform and OS version: MacBook Pro 16-inch 2021, Apple M1 Max, 64GB RAM, Ventura 13.4.1
Basic steps to reproduce the problem: Shown in videos and description
Expected result and actual result: The multicam is sticking, slow, pressing play can take up to 10 seconds to start, and longer timelines can become unusable in many instances... The multicam should run smoothly (if the multicam is video only, it does run smoothly, therefore I believe this is audio related and this needs to be rethought)
Switch audio multicams are very broken. I think that it is mostly related to audio and some coding issues. However, it becomes almost unusable with anything more complex than something very basic. Mixing frame rates, resolutions, and audio channels and things begin to break. I how found that problems arise MOSTLY when you are dealing with any camera that records multiple channels of audio. Premiere seems to be ok with a stereo pair, mono and dual mono audio... but if things start going beyond that, Premiere can't hang.
These videos show some of the issues, but these don't show all of the issues... only the ones I can recreate relatively easily. When placing multicams into a sequence (even with proxy media and matching timeline settings) things go south relatively quickly. This isn't isolated to swith audio multicams, however switch audio multicams are what I've been using for years and I encounter the problems most when using that.
I use switch audio because it is the cleanest way to make MC's in my opinion, it's non-destructive, but most importantly, double clicking on the audio pulls it up in the source monitor rather than taking you inside the multicam (Camera 1 and All Cameras seem to open the MC in timeline view whenever you click on the audio, very annoying) (if anyone knows of a way to prevent that from happening, I would love to know)
