Text-based editing, deleting pauses between 2 speakers

Hey all,

I've been using text-based editing and I'm having trouble with mass pause deleting when editing 2 speakers. I don't want any hesitation at all between the two of them. Not sure if the answer is obvious, but it seems to me that Premiere can't yet figure out that I'm trying to have a call and response type thing going on like this:
