Text Graphics window slowing me down

I create a lot of text graphics to label roughly what the subject is talking about.  It helps me as I scroll through a timeline.

Unfortunately Adobe has created this 'Graphics' window which loads all the text graphics I've created.  I want to deactivate this, as I believe it creates a sluggish work enviornment for me.  Is there a way to disable it?

You can close the "Text" panel from the pancake menu (three stacked pancakes) to the right of the panel name whenever it has focus.
