Timeline History Not Tracking - Can't Undo

Been having a very annoying problem these last weeks - a documentary I'm editing has stopped tracking undos.  I can trip a clip, or apply an effect, really anything in the timeline and it does NOT appear in the history tracker and cannot be undone.  Changes in the source monitor or the Bins are.

I've trashed preferences, reverted to 22.5 which worked for a few minutes, and even opened the project in the BETA which also worked initially but then stopped tracking.  Anyone else having this problem?  Found any solutions?

Try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Importing the project into a new project seems to have worked for now.

Hopefully, it holds this time!
