Hello. I'm fairly new to Premier Pro. I've been using it with just my CPU for a few months and it has been working fine, although painfully slow. Yesterday I installed an inexpensive GPU and it definitely improved performance. The problem now is that on some clips the timeline video will freeze while the audio keeps playing normally. I can move the play head around and the video will move to that location, play for 1 second then freeze again. This makes it impossible to edit anything. Any ideas?
System configuration:
Lenovo Ideacentre
i7
Windows 10 64 bit
12 GB ram
The new GPU is a PNY Nvidia GeForce GT1030 2GB PCI-E 3.0. I installed the latest drivers available from Nvidia.

If you are using highly compressed footage might want to consider converting to a more edit friendly format such as Cineform or Prores or use proxies.

Yes very compressed.
Your machine does not look very powerful to handle such footage.

The GT1030 only has Game Ready Drivers available.
Premiere Pro works best with Studio Drivers, not Game Drivers.

There are not many GPUs available these days. I'll try to find an upgrade. Any recommendations?

It would be better to ask that here:
