Issue:
Certain values under Vector Motion Scale can cause the Align tool to not work properly.
Adobe Premiere Pro Version Number:
Premiere Pro 2024 [24.4.1]
Operating System:
Windows 11 and Mac OS Sonoma 14.4 have been tested.
System Info:
Windows:
intel i7 12th gen processor
GPU: nVidia 3060
RAM: 16GB
Hard Drive: NVME 1TB (M.2)
Mac OS:
M2 Pro
Memory: 16GB
Hard Drive: Local storage 1TB
Video Format:
N/A. Applies to new projects with any video format. Tested on 1920x1080 timeline.
Workflow Details:
Can reproduce on a new empty project/timeline with a single text layer graphic.
Steps to reproduce:
If you change the Vector Motion Scale to above 200%, the align tool doesn't work properly at all and gets less aligned with each click. If you have the Vector Motion Scale set to 101%-199% it works but not on the first click. It requires several clicks to align depending on how far misaligned it was.
I should note that you can change the scale above 200% and have it still align properly, but as soon as you move the layer at all it breaks as shown.
Expected result:
Text layer should align to the center both vertically and horizontally on the first click.
Actual result:
Text layer may or may not align to the center on the first click, depending on what the Vector Motion Scale value is set to.
Demonstration:
See attached YouTube video.

I should note that I accidentally uploaded the earlier video of me demonstrating this issue before I discovered the underlying cause. This is the updated video showing how you can break/fix this problem.

Yes this problem still exists in 24.6.1 (Build 2). No I will not test any further as no one at Adobe has even acknowledged this issue here nor indicated at all that it is something Adobe cares to resolve. It takes less than a minute to spin up a new sequence, create a text layer, apply a transform below 200% and test multiple alignments, and then set the transform above 200% and test multiple alignments.
I don't see how moving this bug report to discussions is helpful in either resolving this issue or getting Adobe to acknowledge it.
