I am having a pretty serious issue with type tool / essential graphics.
I'm typing up simple text and the cursor moves to the front of the line, and then acts somewhat unpredictably.
If I'm typing letters, it seems more or less fine, except it'll maybe add a space at the end or beginning of a line if I use the return key.
If I try to type periods, or other punctuation, that punctuation will appear at the beginning of the line instead of after the last letter I typed.
If I try to delete anything, it feels a bit random how it chooses what to delete.
It feels like maybe the type tool as it appears on my screen is not aligned with the data I'm entering. Something is happening in the in between. This is my theory partly because the text clip's NAME (down in the timeline), which in the case of the type tool is always simple whatever the text is and it auto-updates, that is what I expect it to be. For example I typed "I thought..." and the text in the Program panel was "...I thought" but down in the timeline, the text clip had the correct name.
Unfortunately, the accuracy of the text clip's name is significantly less important to me than that of the text on screen.
Anybody else have this issue? Any solutions?
I was using the latest 2022 version of Premiere, and had been for a very long time. I reset preferences, which didn't work. I updated to the latest 2023, and that didn't work.
Open to ideas. Thanks!
After hours of troubleshooting, it was a simple option toggle. Mixed in with the text style setting in the essential graphics panel are two paragraph "P"s with arrows next to them. One types left to right, the other right to left. Somehow, I must've clicked to change from normal.
If anybody else has this issue, now you have a solution!
