I'm baffled. I shot a 3-minute clip with the Canon EOS R6 in C-Log 3 4K/60, and Premiere Pro will not open it.
Premiere tells me it can't open the file until I get a paid Creative Cloud subscription so that Adobe can install HEVC codecs on my computer. I have a subscription, and I'm logged in. I installed the HEVC codecs from Microsoft. No change.
It tells me "The importer reported a generic error."
It tells me I should delete a folder in C:users\Public....etc. and restart Premiere. No change.
I'm told by Google AI that I can try reinstalling Premiere, but it doesn't fix anything.
I tried switching to an earlier version of Premiere. No change.

Please do not use AI and do not install codec.
Try logging out and in of your adobe account.
Might need to make a new windows account on your machine.

Thank you Ann. I solved this by installing a very good conversion app called Shutter Encoder and converting the file to H.264. It now opens normally in Premiere Pro. Just for info, the clip also wouldn't open in Resolve. I have no idea what causes this issue, but it's been around for years. I don't even know why converting to H.264 would fix it. I didn't record in H.265. ????????? I got this tip from a YouTuber called Allen Ang. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL-kdUzA3x8&pageId=105855053481998397446.
