When creating a new sequence I can have multiple tracks named the same thing (4 tracks named VO assigned to channels 1-2, 4 tracks named MUSIC assigned to channels 2-3, 4 tracks named SFX assigned to channels 4-6, etc). But after the sequence is created... Premiere will NOT ALLOW me to add tracks and name them the same thing (ie. VO, MUSIC, SFX). I DON'T WANT TO NUMBER MY DANG CATEGORICAL LABLES (ie. VO-1, VO-2, etc)!
How can I add new tracks and name them the same name as other tracks? Is there no way? Again, Premiere allows this when creating a new sequence... but there's seemingly no modifying this after the sequence is created.

Looks like you can't either in the timeline or the track mixer.
It seems odd that Premiere lets you use the same name when creating a new sequence, I can imagine it might cause a few problems when exporting OMFs oe EDLs

I didn't know this was the case. But I tried it and indeed, it doesn't allow for identical track naming.
Although I welcome any Adobe employee to explain this here, the only thing I can think of is that each track needs an original name so as not to get any mix ups inside the XML that is your project file.

From the point of view of project organization and structuring when exporting to other NLEs, this behavior is correct. If it is possible to assign the same names to tracks, there will be problems. By the way, before version 15, there was such a possibility. Not now. So there are reasons
