I'm not sure I understand what you are asking:

You want to replace the video portion of the merged clip on the timeline, while retaining the audio?
What is not allowing you to do it?

From what to what?

Using the video you transcoded in DaVinci and what audio?
I'm ready to color correct and export but I cant replace the footage back with the raw footage
So you edited with the transcoded material merged to audio, and now you want to replace the transcoded video with the raw footage?
Are the raw files attached to the transcoded clips (using the Proxy workflow in Premiere)? If so, just toggle the Proxy button.

I didn't attach them to a proxie, how do I do that

This is going to be complicated to fix if you didn't use the Proxy workflow within Premiere.
1) Are the transcoded files you used the same frame size as the raw files?
2) Did you keep the same name of the files - so that the transcoded clip has that same name as the raw file, just a different extension?

As sort of a 20/20 hindsight notion, you should test the entire workflow before you start working on a real project. I say that because I think you've gone down a path you might not be able to get back from without starting over.

Hi Jim,
What this is really referring to is a KNOWN issue in Premiere involving merged clips, and Premiere 2018 upgrade. It is an issue we only just learned about, have been dealing with for many days, and can not get Adobe to address. (MTD, It has nothing to do with Proxys.)
You have helped me in the past, and if you have any answer to this we would greatly appreciate it.
We need to export an AAF of our feature film in order to get the project into Pro Tools to do our final sound design and mix.
Premiere pro will not export AAF without major error messages if you have multiple audio tracks, or if you used the "merge clips" option when you set up workflow, (which every editor I know uses now for syncing sound).
AAF Exporting Issue in Premiere Pro CC 2018
Unable to export AAF - Error "AAFRESULT_INSUFF_TRAN_MATERIAL"
Jim, do you know any work around for this issue? HELP! Thank you!
Ryana will need to export and XML or EDL if she wants to color grade in Davinci from RAW... These both have problems now in Premiere 2018 if the Merged Clips was used in workflow.
XMLs are converted into nested sequences
EDLs only support 4 tracks of audio

Unfortunately, I just don't have any experience using AAF, XML or EDLs. My projects aren't complex enough for me to need a separate sound designer.
Sorry.

Thanks Jim!
We have uncovered a major can of worms here, and Adobe has been covering it
up for since 2018 came out as they call it a "Known Issue" but will not
offer a fix. It sucks. Anyone who has a film going to theaters that is
relying on final sound design, (which is the majority) is basically screwed
if they used the 2018 version, as no one is able to do final sound in Pro
Tools or any other professional sound platform.
We're trying work-arounds, like opening in an old version of Premiere,
which does work, but causes all new problems for us as we shot the film
with the new RED in 8K... And we get the "This project was created in the
new version and can not be opened" error...
We are also trying to export an XML with Wave audio tracks only, no video,
then go to Final Cut X, then do the AAF from there... another major pain
which need additional 3rd party plug ins, (sendtoX) and will cause problems
on the return.
Anyway, thank you for the reply. Adobe needs to step up and take
responsibility and let people know before they edit entire films and get to
the final steps of 7 figure projects like this with distribution deadlines
and are screwed.
Thanks again
