Unresponsive after Replacing Files

I've been having repeated issues with PPro becoming unresponsive after I replace files using File>Replace File...

I'm on v 22.2 using an M1 Mac - Monterey 12.1

try running the intel version of premiere available in the creative cloud app.  I've had some issues with the m-1 version...  And maybe describe your workflow in more detail.   and have you used this workflow in previous versions of premiere successfully?
