Update on subtitle ? or what ?

New Here ,

Notice to people who subtitle regularly!
I work in digital, and therefore subtitle a lot of videos, so what happened on the last update ?!
We can no longer subtitle a sequence itself, but only clips for now? (and not possible to select the right language?) DIY in sight... heeelp

Ivan,

Yes, there are new options and some can be confusing.

But you can still transcribe sequences, and you don't have to transcribe clips. In sequence view, Transcript tab, click the 3 dots and pick "Generate static transcript." It warns you that this transcript won't update. But if you nest the sequence, that transcript will work just like a clip transcript.

Setting the language works the same as before for sequence/static transcriptions. The Create transcript dialogue gives you the option. Some source media/clip transcription does not show you the dialogue. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Transcription and set the default language.

In your screenshot, I can't tell which menu that is.

Stan
