Using a different proxy preset than one originally chosen

If I want to use a different proxy preset than the one I originally chose, will I have to create new proxies? How do I make sure my footage uses those proxies rather than the ones I originally created?

1. Yes you will have to make new files.

2. Delete original proxies from harddrive.
