Video appears in upper left corner of preview box and remainder is green

Hello,

I need to concatenate multiple videos into 1 and add video chapters. When I imported the individual clips, which all came from the same camera, and dragged them into the timeline I started to notice some of the clips loaded but they were tiny in the upper left corner of the preview box and the remainder of the box was green.

As I scrolled and jumped around the timeline sometimes part of the video filled the entire preview box and sometimes it didn't. Sometimes a whole clip played as it should but the next time it wouldn't. I have provided a screenshot of what I am seeing. I also noticed the videos ran at twice the correct speed.

When I exported the video to see if it was just a previewing issue it played at normal speed but still with the green screen and varying video sizes.

To get done what I needed to, I concatenated the files within another application then added the video chapters with Premier Pro.

But what is causing this and how can I fix it? I tried working with them as individual clips as well as turning them into sequences. Like I said all my clips came from the same camera with the same settings so that shouldn't be an issue. And I made sure the application and my computer was up-to-date software wise.

Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you

Hi @NMDL1234! ,
That sounds frustrating.  What type of camera and video codec are you using?  Also which version of Premiere?  If you're able can you send a screenrecording/shot of what you're seeing when a clip looks right vs wrong?  Is there any different in the clips themselves; resolution/ codec/ fps etc?

If ypre able to send me a project and a sample problme clips I'd be happy to dign into it more.

Best,
Rach

Hi Rach,

Thank you for responding!

The clips are from a surveillance camera, but unfortunately, due to legalities, I cannot send any videos to you. However, if you are willing to do a Zoom meeting, I can share some sample ones with you that way.

Thank you again!
