Video are out of sync even in Source Monitor

New Here ,

Hi everyone,

I've been facing a huge challenge lately which is that all my imports are out of sync even in the Source Monitor. The original files doesn't have any error and they play correctly in Windows Media, but as soon as I import them to PP they get out of sync and it is a pain in the head to re-sync them all. Even in the Source Monitor they are out of sync which is really weird.

It would be a great help if somebody knows how to fix this problem.

Cheers

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your media in tree view:

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:

Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:

I am facing the same problem. The original media file plays correctly in all kind of players. Once I import it in premiere pro (latest 2 versions) the track number 2 is exactly one frame out of sync. I was 2 hours today in customer support. No real result.

As you didn't share the file type and the device that created it, I can't even begin to guess. Data is needed or you're just asking people to make wild guesses.

Yes, you are right. It was a bit superficial of me. I will check today again this problem and will provide more information later.

When we're busy and something goes weird, it's easy to be rattled and miss something.

The following problem I observe. The orginal medial file is a mp4 shot with a sony PMW150 in 2018. (Codec Linear PCM), 1920x1080.  During the shooting there was sound recorded on track 1 (directional boom), track 2 (wireless mic) and track 3 and 4 internal mics of the camera. If I import the clip in premiere pro (latest version or 24 version) and play the clip in the source monitor I hear a little reverb. When moving this clip to the timeline, I can see that Track 1 is exactly one frame out of sync. If I look at the end of the entire clip, I can see that also the video and track 1 are one frame shorter than track 2, 3, 4. I worked on this film in the last years sometimes and this problem did not occure. To check, I loaded the same file in Da Vinci Resolve. In this software the clip is shown correctly and also is in sync without a missing frame.  I am trying to understand where the problem comes from. Thank you for your support !

I would have copied the clip and placed it in a new folder. Then, rename the clip from 039_0083_01.MP4 to lets say Test.MP4 to trick Premiere Pro to conform it once again. Then, create a brand new project and import the file Test.mp4 and see if it behaves the same. I would start there. 🙂

Thank you Averdahl for taking the time to think about this issue. I tried, what you said and renamed the clip and copied into a new folder and imported it in a new project. The problem remained. What I did now is, I downloaded an older version of Premiere Pro, Version 24.0. With this version, the problem is gone. So I will edit this project in this older version. But it would be still interesting to understand, what causes this problem, also for future projects!

Every file is handled by an Importer when you import a file into Premiere Pro. In Pr 25 there are similar issues as you have with other media as well. Then i noticed that Adobe has made some changes to their Importers and probably a bug found it´s way in and causes those issues. I guess that the Importer/s are to blaim.

I had to downgrade to Pr 23.6.8 to being able to edit the media i had without any A/V sync issues. Great that you found a version that works for your media. Hopefully Adobe will fix this asap.
