Hello. This week I decided to try Adobe Premiere Pro 2024, the trial version was installed normally. The problem is that I couldn't open the capture window and I need to digitize some VHS video tapes. I looked for something in the menus and program settings and found nothing. Does the 2024 version of Premiere Pro no longer capture video?

Yes, that's correct. Adobe mentioned this on the forum, so we knew it was coming (or going). 🙂

Thanks for answering. Well, I just went back to 2023. I'm not going to update to 2024, as it no longer has the video capture feature. Because there is no other video capture software with the same quality as Premiere Pro.

You do not say if this is mac or windows.

As for windows even if 2024 could capture video, it's only capturing over FireWire.

To digitize VHS you need a converter from analog out to DV in.

You can still try 2024. When deciding on a subscription you have access to 2023 which does capture video.

My computer uses Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Yes, I know that to capture video the best option is through a Firewire connection and that's what I use. The capture card is a Canopus ADVC110, its connection to the computer is via a Firewire cable. The VCR is a JVC SR-S365U and its connection to the capture card is via an SVHS cable for the video.

I'm sorry, but these two software you mentioned don't even come close to the capture quality of Adobe Premiere Pro. In my opinion, they are of very amateur quality. When a client brings me videotapes to digitize, they certainly expect a professional quality result and I must, at the very least, deliver that. A thousand times going back to the 2023 version of Premiere Pro than using these two software.

I think it's unfortunate that Adobe removed this feature from Premiere Pro. At the very least, out of respect for its users, Adobe should make the capture feature a separate piece of software and make it available for free on its website. Use elke to capture and save the capture to your computer in uncompressed AVI format. Then, when editing, open the capture file in version 2024 and later of Premiere Pro.

Case closed guys, I'm back to the 2023 version of Premiere Pro. I'm not going to give up the professional quality of Premiere Pro's video capture. Especially because I use it extensively to digitize VHS, SAVHS, Mini-DV video tapes, etc. I haven't seen any other software on the internet, especially free ones, that has the same or higher quality.

I'm glad you got something to use. BTW: You can have PP 24.x on the same machine as the 2023 version you are using.

Your exact issue is the same problem that I'm having. I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 for a very long time, and now that I finally decided to give the 2024 version a try, I think I made a mistake. I'm going to have to go back to CS4. Unbelievable.
