I am working on Premiere Pro 2020. I am reasonably experienced operator of Premiere Pro having worked with since version CS 4
I have recently moved to working in UHD format and the issue appears to have commenced since operating in this format
The issue is that I construct a project with what I consider to be the correct UHD MP4 format and commence work on developing sequences from within imported video clips as normal. Everything appears to operate as usual and as and when I save the project in the normal way.
As I continue to develop the project I will open and close it several times then upon opening the project a random number of video clips fail to load. At this stage I will locate the affected clips in their file locations and attempt to load them into the project and they will NOT load into the project. The only way which I can get them to load is to rename the individual clip say as follows original MV2395 and change it to MV2395a this then allows the clip to load into the project and it is fully operational. As the project develops and I save it and again later reopen it, another tranche of clips will fail to load and I have to repeat the process of changing their name as described above.
Regarding the clips that fail to load they can be played on the PC with their original name using a video player so it appears that the clips remain uncorrupted just the name. I have also considered that the project could have become corrupted so attempted to reload the clips into a new project but they will not load into Premiere Pro until the clip name has been changed as described above.
The above issue has now happened in several projects.
Some other background info on the PC it is operating an i7 processor 6 core 12 threads with 32 Gb of ram.
Any thoughts Anyone?

PrPro 2020 is pretty old. What is the actual version number in the about box? (on win, that's Help > About PrPro)
Are you in a position to be able to upgrade to the latest version (which is currently Pr 23.5)? Especially since it sounds like your media cache could be corrupt as well.

The Premiere pro version no is14.3.2 (Version 42)
At present I am not in a position to upgrade to aa later version I have cleared the media cashe as suggested by Ann Bens but should you have any further suggeststions which might help it would be appreciated. There maybe an issue with my RAM as I am running on 32Gb at present but intend to upgrade this to 64 Gb ASAP as there was another issue with a project which my RAM maxed out
