i have been trying to edit my videos but the video preview just isnt showing up. any particular reason why?

Odd.
I'd try resetting preferences.
Close Premiere then hold down shift/alt/control while clicking on the icon to open the app.
Keep holding the keys and let your system make changes.

Please tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card and your source properties and sequence settings.
