Premiere has started behaving strangely. The first few voice narrations I did worked without a hitch and then all of a sudden every time I click on the microphone icon to add a new narration, it simply jumps to the end of the timelines (I have even add in & out points to no avail) and doesn't record anything. Please see the short screen-cast I made showing the problem. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks

I spent 30 mins trying to replicate your problem and I can't. It seems very strange. Perhaps try resetting your preferences....
Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.

I would try re-setting preferences.
With Premiere closed hold down shift/control/alt and keep holding the keys and click on the Premiere Icon to open the app.
Let your systemt make changes.
I hope that this helps and then try again.

Hi Jean-François,
Sorry. Do you have an In Point marked in the sequence? If so, try removing it. Let me know if this works.
Thanks,
Kevin

The problem is solved but unfortunately I'm not sure it was an In point marker problem. I did press the little microphone icon to record my voice over, the marker went right at the end of the timeline (as demonstrated in the video) then i started to click randomly on everything and press repeatedly on the spacebar. And suddenly it started to work again.

OMFG, I figured it out. There is issue with starting point. Just move starting point to the right, more than 3 second and it works.

well it's a workaround... And if you want to keep working... it's a solution. If you want to report a bug, here's how to do it. https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/how-do-i-write-a-bug-report/idi-p/13361863

I had this problem today.
I cleared my in/out markers and now have zero problems producing Voiceover from any section of the timeline.

I had exactly this same problem happening and cured it by saving my project, quitting Premiere and doing a full restart of the computer. Just putting it out there in case this simple solution works for others who are stumped by this!

Also, I had tried clearing in/out markers first which didn't solve the issue.

I know this thread is rather old, but I was having the same problem and none of the below suggestions were working. However, after messing around for a while, I disconnected my bluetooth headphones and it solved the issue. Hope this helps others!

I've just started using Adobe Premiere Pro a few weeks ago and its genuinely sad how buggy it is... This is a "Pro" product? I haven't found a solution to this problem that I'm encountering as well, I'm just baffled at how you have to grip with little silly problems constantly rather than focus on the project at hand... Colour me disappointed and unimpressed in this 'product'....

Hello brand new user, I'm always interested in how many 'bugs' new users find in software. To quote someone I'll say 'I'm just baffled' by it. Sorry to see you 'disappointed'... many of us have been around here for years, and not seeming to have this issue. Perhaps there's a suggestion to your issues, but if you're just here to bash the "Pro" out of it... maybe not.

MyerPJ, this is supposed to be a "safe place." Being a little sarcastic... But filip_6868. video editing software is very complex and all of them have "bugs." Do you have any experience with other video editing software? and it's never easy to troubleshoot from a distance. Never easy to troubleshoot premiere problems from a distance so please tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card and if you have any 3rd party plugins installed for Premiere... Also, sequence settings and clip properties can also help. Although you can throw almost any format into premiere, some formats can be problematic, particularly on an underpowered system.
So if you want to troubleshoot your issues, stick around. We can help...

BTW: On your behest, I recorded several VO traks and it seems to be working just right for me.
