I dont see any transition, just a bunch of effects.

Guessing this is done with greenscreen.

I'm sure there was a greenscreen, but was there some sort of transition between the initial background and the virtual reality background?

I would guess that it was done in an app like After Effects with a third party plugin., perhaps Particular.
