When changing Essential Graphics parameters the preview doesn't always update

Hi everyone!

I'm using a bunch of self-made Essential Graphics to create explainer videos in Premiere Pro. Each EG has some parameters like position, scale or colour baked in. Sometimes when I change for example the position parameter, the preview gets "stuck" in position and it takes several seconds for it to show the changes. Playback otherwise works fine, it's just the parameter changes it seems to be struggling with.

Does anyone have an idea where the issue might be coming from and how to fix it?

Thanks for your comment! I tried this just now but it didn't seem to fix the issue. The preview still gets stuck occasionally when changing parameters. Any other ideas?

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Hi again,

I've tried all of these except for the graphics driver. (I'm using a Macbook, so the graphics driver is built into the OS.) I've also spoken to my colleagues who have the same setup as me and they're experiencing the same issue. Changing EG parameters works for a while but then the whole preview window freezes for several seconds. It makes doing our work really difficult.

- Could it be related to any effects used in the Essential Graphics?

- Could it be that the location of the EG files causes problems? (They're on a shared cloud space.)

- Any other suggestions for what we could try?

Possibly.  Download them to a local drive.
