Why can't I see my clips drag in my timeline?

Community Beginner ,

It's hard to word this question, all of a sudden I'm experiencing this.. I'm able to drag my clips to different areas on the timeline, however I can't see the actual clip move until I unlick my mouse. There is the regular little box that shows me the amount of frames it's being moved, but I can't see the actual clip move, so where it lands is just a mystery..

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Please tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card and your source properties and sequence settings.  Could be the driver for your graphics card needs updating.   Have you done any OS or Premiere udpates recently or have you changed your system configuration?

Hi,

Sorry the for delay in responding. It started working but now, while working on a project I'm experiencing the same issue. My premiere is up to date.

I have a 2019 Macbook pro.

AMD Radeon Pro 5500

and attached is an image of my sequence settings.

I'm also experiencing this issue when I try to drag my clips onto my timeline. I'm unable to see where it'll land until I allow it to drop into my sequence. Screen Shot 2021-05-30 at 2.35.24 PM.png

There is an known issue with nested audio.

Delete nested audio and try again.

Thanks for your reply. It's not just that clip. Any clip, whether nested or not, is giving me issues..

If there is nested audio in the timeline all clips can show issues.

Bumping into this problem. Experiencing this for a couple of weeks now, since late November 2025, Adobe product updates have been rolled out.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Could you share your current Premiere Pro version and build number? You can find them by going to the top menu bar and selecting Help > About Premiere Pro. Please also go to Edit > Preferences > General and uncheck "GPU accelerated UI Rendering". Let me know if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Ishan

I have the same issue here, have to complete a work and I'm unable of doing it. Windows 11, 128 gb of ram, build 25.6.2 ecc ecc...

So what i'm going to do? I export my project in XML and open it in Da Vinci Resolve and jesus i will shut down my payments and never come back to this crappy editing software that i'm using by 15 years now. After 15 years of incredible bugs this is the lowest point of Premiere and After effects ever.

Goodbye

Assuming this has not been addressed yet. I have had to avoid editing the last 2 days because of this issue.

We need someone to figure this out !!!!!
