Why do I have to create a new sequence for every video clip?

All my footage clips are from the same camera, same settings. I used to be able to import them to one bin and drag them all to the same timeline. Now it forces me to make a sequence from clip settings from every single clip which really slows down production.

What am I missing? Thanks.

I just dragged in multiple clips, selected them all, dragged to the New Item button at the bottom of the Project window, and they all got placed into a single Sequence. What are you doing?

Not sure where the "New" button is. I don't see that. Under Window there is Projects but no Project.

If I go to File > New Sequence I can make one and drag ALL clips to that, but if I try to drag an individual one it won't work.

I did find a video on YouTube that says V1 has to be selected to import clips into the same timeline. Not exactly sure what that does, but it does seem to make it possible.

What you're probably missing is the Source and Track target controls.

To the left of the sequence on the timeline panel's header block, are squares. The far left ones are Source targeting ... the right-side ones are Track targeting. They are blue when active, gray when not.

If say you don't have any blue blocks showing for either audio or video tracks at the far left, you can't drag/drop a clip onto the timeline because Premiere thinks you've disabled that action. So you need to click on at least one video & audio track to get the blue targeting blocks active.
