How is it that the Adobe team says they've increased the Timeline speed by 5x and when I update scrubbing through my timeline is so much slower and laggy? Seriously Adobe, can you please try releasing an update that doesn't break the things that work in the software, much less delivering on the promise you advertise in the update. Every day Davinci sounds more inticing.
I work for/with/teach pro colorists, mostly based in Resolve. So I'm both in Resolve most days, and also on the LGG and BlackMagic forums daily. Resolve ain't no magic bullet, there's a long list of people who've had issues with most of the builds of 18. Very similar to Adobe forums, sadly.
But ... it is easier to test an upgrade in a CC app than Resolve, thankfully.
Install the new major version ... making sure the "remove prior versions" option is NOT checked!

For some reason, even if your CC app prefs are set with that unchecked, new major version install boxes ALWAYS have that checked, so beware!
Next, on launch of the new major version, dump all cache files.
And ... create a NEW project, then use the MediaBrowser panel to navigate to an older project. IMPORT the assets of that project. Which leaves that project totally as-was in the old version.
Now ... test the new version with your media/effects/workflow. If it works, fine.
If not, just open the prior one and get back to work.

Okay I'm gonna give this a go but it's still very frusturating. Adobe (to my knowledge) is one of the only subscription based editing softwares which means over the years I've been a member I've spent thousands of dollars. Because I'm continuily paying for it I expect updates to work and deliver on promises. I can understand there are bugs but when they say the timeline is going to be 5 times faster and it's actually slower... it's aggravating for sure. Maybe I wouldn't be so upset if this was a one time purchase but they are taking my money every month and then when they update it rarely is an immediate improvement and usually it causes more issues than it fixes.

Okay it helped, thank you for the response. I still feel grumpy but it's working and that's what counts.

Hey, I totally get the grumpiness! Been there, of course.
Just glad you're working.
