Dual Playheads in the Timeline (Last Playback Position" Indicator with Jump Shortcut)

Hi Adobe Team,

As a freelance video editor working in Premiere Pro daily, I often find myself needing to return to the point where playback last stoppedbut Premiere doesn’t currently have a clean, visual or shortcut-based way to do that.
Secondary Playhead (Last Stop CTI): A second marker or "ghost" playhead that stays where the last playback stopped (when hiting spacebar to pause), so we can easily return to that point. And ideally, i want a shortcut to jump back to this last stop point, like a temporary "bookmark."

The Idea:

Introduce a secondary playhead or indicator in the timeline that shows:

  • The last location where playback was stopped (e.g., when I hit the spacebar to pause)

  • This marker should remain until playback is started again

  • Add a shortcut to instantly jump back to this "last stop" position

This is different from a normal marker — it should automatically update each time playback is stopped, and not require manual action.

Why This Is Helpful:

In real-world editing, I often:

  • Play through a section to review a cut or transition

  • Pause the playback

  • Move the playhead to try something else

  • Then realize I want to go back to where I pausedbut now I've lost that exact position

This happens dozens of times per day.

A "Last Playback Position" playhead would save me constantly setting manual markers or scrubbing back and forth.

Suggested Functionality:

  • A faint/secondary playhead line (maybe blue or ghosted)

  • Only updates when playback stops

  • Shortcut to jump back to that point anytime

  • Optional toggle in settings to enable/disable

Similar in Other Apps:

  • Some DAWs and NLEs (like Audition, After Effects) have similar features — one head that shows current position, another that stays behind for context

  • Premiere doesn’t yet support this, and it would be a huge time-saver for editors

Final Thoughts:

This is a small UI feature with a huge impact on day-to-day editing — especially for reviewing cuts, syncing, timing effects, and comparing edits quickly.
