Each transition should remember its default duration

Whenever I add a dissolve, I'm happy with the default duration I've set in the prefs (it's 25 frames). But whenever I add a morph cut, I want it to be around 6 frames long, but it defaults to 25 frames. It would be incredibly useful if every transition could either:

Remember the most-recently used duration, and apply that when the transition is added

...or, even better:

Have a 'duration' column in the Effects Panel, where we can set each transition's default duration, like this:
