Mr and Mrs Adobe.
I am an experienced user on video editing but the basic set up for Adobe Premier Pro is a disaster.
There are simply so many options available that you can't even find the simple things.
For over a week I'm fighting to keep the basic lay out to just cut, delete, crop and move a simple video.
When you search You-Tube for help you have to fight through a ton of stuff before you find the solution.......if even given.
For example: You start up the program and there should be a button "New project with basic lay-out."
Once you pushed that button you get a timelime to drag your video in. You get the play and skip to next scene buttons etc. First thing I'm missing is a simple trash button.
I cut a video and a part of that is to delete. Trash Can button is very handy.
The cut is always two moves: Select the cutter and bring to the timeline. Why? Just put a cut button next to the play button and when I push it, the cut is made directly where my cursor is.
What you created with this: Cursor: Cut (one push) Cursor: Cut (one push) ...and to delete the part you don't need: Click on the trash can. These are the most used buttons while getting your project ready before editing.
On top, next to the "Help" button should be the button: Back to basic lay out.
If a newbe destroys the basic lay out and can't figure out how to come back: Push that button and he's ready.
With me I have Lumetri Color on the right, my movie example in the middle and the effect controls on the left. Below my movie example is the timeline. The problem now is that when I look for help at You-Tube everyone has these squares somewhere else. I have Lumetri Color on the right and the guy or girl who wants to help me has it at the left. It's confusing.
Now the real problem comes into play: I'm having my timeline and want to crop a part. So I have to go to the Window button and select "effects". But, when I do that, my timeline disappears..........
Why? Why make it all so complicated. To crop is a simple effect, but I have to select it with the timeline in view otherwise I can't drag the function to my timeline.
During this writing I tried to get a basic set-up back. I'm working with Adobe for about 3 weeks now and still haven't figure out how to keep the timeline + crop in one set-up.
I had it. I screwed up the lay-out............and simply can't get it back.
