14.7 crashes when dragging anything to new layer.

After updating to 14.7, every single time I need to drag either audio or video onto a new layer (to create a new layer) it crashes without fail. This had never happened to me before the update. Anyone experiencing this also?

Its been confirmed by several users that this is related to having control surfaces enable in preferences. Removing them may allow you to proceed. Personally I would roll back  to 14.4

This even happens when I Add Tracks manually, freezes up and have to force quit. Unacceptable.

Mine seems to be doing well. I always delete my media cache and database files before I start the new version. It seems to help.

• Start PP from it's normal desktop icon (IE: don't open from a project file link).
• Close the Open/Home screen (and you will be in PP without a project open).
• Go into Edit/Preferences/Media Cache (Mac users adjust menu name)
• Then Press: Remove Media Cache Files: and Delete...
• Select: Delete all media cache files from the system and OK
• Close PP - It will create any needed cache files on the fly as you edit.

This does not fix the problem. Its a core error that renders 14.7 unuseable

This has been happening for me nonstop since updating. Absolutely ridiculous. I've read through dozens of forums, and the best anyone from Adobe has done to help is to say "reset your settings," which I have done, and still have the same issue. I have never been more tempted to seek out a new editing platform after 10+ years as a Premiere user.

That is good to know. I am indeed using a control surface. Hopefully they get that figured out, as a control surface is an integral part of my setup. In the meantime, I will definitely revert back to the version you recommended. Thanks for the comment!

I love that this has been "confirmed" by Adobe as the "correct fix." What a joke lol

had the same problem, really really schnicky. luckily you can turn of your control surface, add 10 layers and turn it back on. It's awful, almost made me wanna return my control surface or look for another program but for now at least this works. Fix it Adobe!
