2019 and 2020 from a new user

I'm totally new to Premiere Pro, as a student of my first editing class,  and was told to install 2019 versus 2020 to work with GMetrix where we get tested (graded). Are both versions 14.9, or am I mistaken? What do I do to install the older version without losing what I have done on the first version and keep it as main?

You can install both version side by side without loosing work.

You cannot use a project made in 2020 in 2019 just the other way around: open a 2019 project in 2020.
