Animating Text Using Keyframes in Effect Controls Panel

How do I move keyframes (which are white circles) in the Effects Control Panel when I'm animating text?  I can move them easily (when they are diamond shaped keyframes) when I animate an image.  Thanks.

The white circles aren't actual keyframes, they're just indicator that this effect has keyframes applied.

You need to expand the effect to reveal the diamond shaped ones. Just click on the little arrow on the left of the effect to expand it.
