Any interaction between Premiere and Media Encoder causes Premiere to crash

If I export to ME queue, or attempt to use ME as an ingest transcoding agent, I get the consistent and vague error "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." I'm working with PPro 14.9, and ME 14.9. my workstation is a MacPro 2019 3.3GHz 12 core Intel Xeon running Big Sur 11.2.3.

This is a new error which I'm sure would go away if I were able to download V14.8 of each, but Adobe has unhelpfully removed access to previous versions.

I'd troubleshoot in this order:

- Make sure it's not a project issue by exporting a brand new project

- Create a new export preset in Media Encoder and export with that
- Clear your preferences in both apps

- Try reinstalling both apps

- Try upgrading to CC 2021 (v15)

Thanks for the reply -- yes, this only started happening with 14.9, so I tried 15 and found the same results. I've tested all these permutations and found no change of outcome, the newer versions of both these pieces of software have been robbed of their utility by upgrades.
