Aspect ratio on adjustment layer

Hi all, I have a video that will not be a full screen video. The aspect ratio will end up being 1020 by 778. The videos I've brought in are not at this aspect ratio, so I've scaled them accordingly. However, I am running into an issue when I add adjustment layers. This is creating a strange affect where the aspect ratio shrinks in width and distorts the shot while the effect is happening. I have searched for a solve on this and no such luck, has this happened to anyone else and know how to fix it?
