I can't figure out why this happens, but it's been happening for a lot of versions at this point. So I have a second monitor hooked up via HDMI with a speaker connected. So I can use Windows to swap audio between my TV (Samsung NVIDIA High Definition Audio) and my computer audio (Speakers 2-High Definition Audio Device). The TV is connected via HDMI connected via my GTX 1070.
When I have both Premiere and Windows set to SAMSUNG, for example, audio plays fine in Windows, but I get no audio at all in Premiere. Same when I select Speakers. If both are set to it, I get audio in Windows but no audio in Premiere.
The fix for this is to have my computer set to the opposite device as Premiere. So if Premiere is set to SAMSUNG and my computer is set to Speakers, I get audio from Premiere through SAMSUNG and vice versa.
A strange bug with an easy enough workaround, but it's still strange behavior.
