I have PP v14.3.0 (Build 38), and this problem developed today when I started a new PP project. Nothing else has changed with my computer over this same time period, and I was not having this problem the last time I used PP for a previous project (about 1 week ago).

Today, when I started a new project I experienced the following:

- when I had 3 or more in the project panel I could no longer move the playhead through the sequence in the timeline panel, and could not even highlight the box surrounding the project panel. I could move the playhead to the start and end of the sequence using the Home/End keys, and up/down arrows, but could not move it with my mouse

- also, I could not hover scrub or scrub the clips in the project panel

- these problems did not occur when there were only 2 clips in the project panel

- I normally use icon view in the project panel. The problem disappeared when I changed to list view, or when I stayed in icon view and selected Preview Area from the hamburger menu. I don't like using Preview Area so this is not a viable solution for me

- the problem was not there when i opened a project i started about 2 months ago, and finished about 3 weeks ago (ie before v14.3.0)

These problems did not occur before the change to v14.3.0.

I would like to have a solution that allows me to keep working in the ways I have been i.e. using icon view and not using the preview area.

Thanks!

Assuming the mouse works normally on all other applications, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
