Hello (sorry for my english),

I need help! Everytime I am exporting my video in MXF OP1a, I put the option for caption : Embed output file. After the export, the closed caption doesn't seem to be embedded in the video.

I am sending the video after to my client and everytime, he said that the closed caption isn't in the video.

Can someone explain me what am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much!

Look at the exported file with MediaInfo. It will show you if the captions are there.

If they are not there, what specific dot version of Premiere Pro are you using?

How did you export? From PR directly? Or by queuing to Adobe Media Encoder?

Hi Stan!

Thank you for the link.

I did try both. Pr and Adobe Media Encoder, still doesn't work.

The version I am using is    Version 12.1.2 (build 69).

Export :

MFX OP1a :

Video codec : XDCAMHD 50 NTSC (4.2.2)

1920x1080 (1.0), 29.97fps, Upper, 48 000 hz, 8 channels, 24 bits

In the sequence, I try to put the closed caption in v2,v3,v4. It didn't change nothings. I can see my closed caption when I put it on in the monitor, it's all about the export with the embedded closed caption.

Thank you!

I'll take a look this evening. Can you post a screenshot of your export settings? Make sure the summaries show and the caption tab.

Can you also post a screenshot of the MediaInfo results using their "tree" view?

Using  your preset, I get the embedded file using PR export or queue to AME.

Are you sure you are setting embed in the export dialogue caption tab?

Hi Stan,

Here's some pictures of how I export (Pr or Media Encoder). And when the export is over and I want to turn ON the CC it looks like the embedded didn't work.

Thank you for your time.

What did MediaInfo show?

What type Caption stream (608 or 708)?

What program are you using to playback re setting CC on?

Can you upload the file so I can take a look? VLC can be tricky for playing back captions. Mediainfo shows the caption file is there.

The captions are there, as indicated both in mediainfo and by importing the file to PR and viewing the captions there.

Some players do not support mxf, and I cannot get VLC to play the captions. But that appears to be an issue with VLC.

Can anyone tell us what is a good test option for mxf with embedded CC captions?

The switch player from telestream plays back captions

The free player will watermark your captions but you will be able to confirm that you have exported 608/708 captions embedded into video. I think the full version is  $99
