Essential Graphics transparent background

When I try to make a credit page in essential graphics, I go to an open are of the timeline and as soon as I make a text box the preview screen goes to a transparent background. It used to be a black background when I did this in an open area on timeline. Is there a setting that controls this?  Is there a way to reset all the settings in the essential graphics panel? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

On a side note the background is a void and shows as black.
