Export video as non-rectangular file shape

Hi,

Is there a way to export a video as a circle, or some other shape? Like I don't want the video file to be a rectangular. Or at least I want to have the background (that would fill out the rest of the rectangle) to be transparent, like you can do with a PNG.

Yes.

Mask/circle your video and export either with prores or cineform with an alpha channel.

and I think the only flavor of prores that supports an alpha channel is prores 4444.

If you dont want Prores you can use Quicktime Animation with Alpha.

but prores 4444 is a much smaller file size and usually plays without rendering...

Hi all. I thought I knew how to do this, but after being exported in ProRes 4444, it still has a black background rather than a transparent one. Any ideas? Thank you!

Have you tried placing it above a video clip in a premiere timeline?
Can't always tell if it's got transparency just viewing it...Also, if
I remember correctly, you need to make sure the export settings are
set for million+colors...
