File Extensions When Importing

Does anyone know of a way to shut off the default that includes file extensions on import? I understand that correct labeling depends on knowing the extensions, but I don't have a particular need for that. Instead of showing "MyPhoto1.jpg" - I'd like it to just say "MyPhoto1" without having to manually delete the file extension. It's just an OSC thing with me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
