I downloaded a smooth transition presets to Premiere pro cc 2017 and tried to import it to the presets folder, it loaded and then said "File format not supported". And i don´t know what to do!
Nor do we if you dont give any info.
What info do you want?
Were did you download it from (with a link).
The site http://www.kylerholland.com/tutorials (if you scroll down you´l see the smooth transition) Its called KH Smooth Transitions.prfpset
And the final link http://www.mediafire.com/file/ajhnscvzgd8g2di/KH+Smooth+Transitions.prfpset
Dont know what you did but it works just fine.
What did the file full name was for you, i had to replace .xml with .prfpset acourding to a comment.
I have already tried to download a different preset from the same site and that still didn't work, still came up "file not supported".
Did you just download and import it?
You dont have to change anything, it downloads as a .prfpset and import as such in Premiere.
Do you have File-extensions turned on in Windows Explorer.
Remember, it's a preset. You have to import to your Presets in the Effects panel. Just right click on Presets and click on Import Presets...
I had the same problem, and you are right. Doing your way works perfect.
Thanks for this tip. I think I have imported the preset but when I drag it to the timeline, there is a crossed out hand and I'm unable to apply it. Any advice on this part of the problem?
Thank you for the very useful information

i am importing the presets from the effects pannel but it says file format not supported.
Ahhhrg, found the solution! Adobe user interface unfriendliness at its best 😉
1. Top Menu bar click "Graphics"
2. Click "Install Motion Graphics Template"
3. You'll find them with the same name in the / root folder of Essential Graphics
Hope this works for you guys too?
