Fix for MTS files with no audio on Mac

I was going through the same problem many are having with importing .MTS files, and there being no audio.  I tried all of the commonly suggested fixes with no luck.  Finally, I saw mention of something that nobody else has mentioned and it worked, so I'm getting the word out. 

If you have a Mac, go to your system prefs, and see if you have Perian installed.  It will be at the bottom of the system prefs window.  If so, click on that, then click on the Uninstall button.  If you have Windows, you won't have Perian, but read below anyway.  You might have some similar bit of software, causing the same issue.

Here's what's going on, as I understand it.  I might have one of the finer details a bit off, but even if so, you get the idea.  For those not aware, Adobe is no longer licensed by Dolby to handle Dolby 5.0.  So the only way for Premiere to work with it, is if your computer will handled it natively.  In the mean time, Perian is a third party item that let's Quicktime run file types that it normally does not handle.  However Perian is no longer being updated, and Mac OS can handled Dolby.  So there was some conflict of some sort going on.
