the footage for my premiere pro project goes black everytime i puase in the timeline and if i render it when i play the timeline it stays black.

I have seen the fix where

(Go to Premiere top bar and -> FILE. Project Settings -> General. Change the “Renderer” to -> the default option which is the “Mercury Playback Engine Software Only” or other option (that you might have) And voila, it should be fixed!)

the problem is then my project glitches like crazy unless i render because it make the pc way slower. and it take like 6 times as long to render a clip. if i put text on the screen the timlen turns red and i need to render so this is not feesable long term and i need a better fix.

Please Help

That is PART of your information... which video card?

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter
•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
••for Premiere Pro use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
•••such as (MAY not be the latest) https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/170344/
•ATI Driver https://www.amd.com/en/support
There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version
