I had to record a video presentation of someone to be put on my company's website. The presentation is about 10 minutes long and I recorded it using a tripod and my iphone 11 and a lapel mic. We had to do a few takes so I have about 20 clips which I have to put together.

After exporting all the clips into my project, some of the clips' audio is in stereo and some in mono. When I put these clips next to each other there is a noticeable difference in the audio.

Why do some clips come through as mono and some in stereo when the recording setup was exactly the same? How do I get all the clips to play in stereo?

Thanks so much.

It sounds like something went wrong in the recording process.

I don't believe that there is a way to separate left and right channels at this point

Perhaps the phone was stereo and the lav mic is mono? One of my lavs is mono, left channel only.

For the ones that are mono, simply drag/drop the audio effect 'fill X with Y" onto the selected clips. If the audio is in the left, use the "Fill right from left" ... if the right channel has audio, "Fill left from right".

Alternatively, you can select a bunch of clips in a bin, "Modify/Audio Channels" ... then in the bottom part, you have a graph sort of thing, with Source Chanel on top, and Clip channel to the side. If as in my example you have clicked the L channel for both, then you will have the L channel as the "Source" for both left and right ... the same as fill right with left.

But this is fast, as you can work the whole group at once.
