How to save a file with all the information

I have saved a videoname.prproj file into a folder after I finish.  A couple days later I went to open the .prproj file and I find it empty without any saved pictures, videos, or anything inside of it. 

What could I have done wrong to find the file this way? 

I wanted to make a sencond video with all the resources I already had.  I didn't move any files from their locations, so finding them missing on the .prproj was a surprise.

What can I do to recover, or to make sure the files don't go missing from inside the .prproj document?

How large is videoname.prproj, 7 KB or?
