Can not find the way to create a mask other than draw it by hand, but this method doesn't allow to create a mask of exactly specified size and put it into exact position.

Is there any proven way to achieve my aim?

May be I could use a picture asset? Then how?

There are some strange things happen if masking with the Track Matte Key.

There are two screenshots attached. The first with Track Matte Key is disabled and the second with Track Matte Key is enabled.

The timeline is 3840x2160, the asset is 750x750 at V1 and the mask is 750x750 but with corners rounded to 16px at V2.

When Track Matte Key is disabled it is clear that the asset and the mask are of the same size. But as soon as Track Matte Key is enabled the mask reveals just a part of the asset.

What am I doing wrong?

PS: No problems in case both the asset and the mask are positioned inside 3840x2160 frame. But this solution is not suitable for smaller videos placed on larger timelines.

Digging this issue (or feature?) further placed the positioned asset into a nested sequence, applied the Track Matte Key effect to this nested sequence and then got the desired result.

So let me please edit my initial question: is there the way other than adding unneeded (from the first glance) elements like excess nested sequences into the project? I'm afraid I'll get lost in my project sooner or later this way.

(i would edit my previous post but see no posibility to do that and the "... More" menu is empty)
