Image blend mode for white

So I imported an image with a white background, when I played around with the blend modes it doesn't remove the white and if I use the ultra key greenscreen it just makes the white a lower opacity to make it a more of a grey shade. What should I do to remove the white in the image?

You could try a luma key.

Don’t use Ultra Key.

Select the image then go into the Effects Control panel. Look for the blend modes drop down by opacity and choose Multiply.

So this is how it looks raw:

and then when I add the  Multiply blend mode in the opacity section, it looks like this:

so it blends in i guess but it becomes darker so will I have to do this.
